Fred Bernhard on HMCS Athabaskan & Saguenay, 1959.

Royal Canadian Navy : Fred Bernhard.

Fred Bernhard on the quarterdeck on HMCS Saguenay. The ship's badge (an Indian's head superimposed over a river) is visible over his shoulder. In addition, a radar expert has told me that the SPS-12 radar on the mast further proves it is not HMCS Athabaskan. This photo was taken with a different camera than the rest of the photos. It might have been a training cruise.

Possibly the HMCS Iroquois as well. This print is dated May, 1959.
However, its been suggested this is HMCS Crescent. One man who sailed on her at that time says: " Note she only had one 4" gun mount on the focsle and the bridge was closed in, both from an earler refit. See just the stbd corner of a closed in bridge in the picture. "
